8 of Swords - Tarot

The 8 of Swords is generally associated with the word of interference. This is because we are being asked to recognize our negative thought patterns that interfere with us making progress at this time. All these doubts and fears, judgments and criticisms prevent us from moving forward and trusting the truth that is guiding us.

As we are at the stage of the number 8, we are being encouraged to see that a time of mastery is at hand. When we are in the process of integrating a truth into our mind and way of being, we need to practice this truth time and time again. It takes discipline and strength to do this. It is not enough to just practice this truth occasionally, we must actually practice this truth a 1000 times over until we have mastered it to such a degree that it becomes a part of who we are.

With this mastery, we must also face time and time again the fears, doubts, judgments and criticisms from both ourselves and others. These energies want to interfere with our truth and the only way we can prevent them from doing so is by becoming so strong in our own mind and self as to not give any power away to these energies.

A lesson that comes through this is to understand that no matter what truth we live by, we will always be faced with judgement and criticism. This energy can sabotage our process if we let it. However, the 8 of Swords encourages us to build our strength against these bullying energies and to keep moving forward no matter what is thrown at us. It is better to live our truth for ourselves then to live a lie to appease others.

Another aspect that can come through this energy is to see that this process of mastery is helping us to break free of our own limitations of fear, doubt, judgement and criticisms. What we think and believe is the truth that we seek to prove. If we continue to give power to our negative thoughts, we will insist on finding this truth in others. However, if we can truly master our thoughts to conquer this energy and redirect our truth towards thoughts that are uplifting, inspiring and encouraging, we will seek and find this truth to be reflected back to us instead. The swords are always teaching us that the choice is ours.
