Justice asks us to see the difference between human law and natural law. It is not concerned with our human concepts of ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, but rather looks at the karmic principles of cause and effect. Justice is not about reward or punishment; it's about finding what is fair and balanced and is reflective of an objective spiritual and cosmic truth that goes beyond our limitations of ‘right’ and ‘wrong’.

The misconception around the interpretation of Karma creates an idea that if we do ‘good’, we will be rewarded and if we do ‘bad’ we will be punished. Why this is misleading is first, it is operating from a belief system that there is something out there that is keeping score and delegating reward and punishment accordingly, and second, that there is an ultimate definition of what is ‘good’ and what is ‘bad’.

When we look from a more objective point of view, we can see that our thoughts, words, and actions have an impact on the world around us. When we choose to act in one way,

there is a natural result of what ripples from that point. When we act in another way, the results are different. The universe is no concerned with this being ‘right’ or ‘wrong’, only that if you choose to be and act in a certain way, then you should be prepared for what transpires as a result of this. Justice and Karma ask us to take full responsibility for what we are putting out into the world and understand that what comes back to us is reflective of our choices, not as reward and punishment, but simply as a natural cause and effect.

Why our human justice systems fail in so many ways is because they are not working within the parameters of what is fair but rather work within the parameters of what is deemed morally ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ within the cultural and religious rules of its time and place. A set of rules that dictates a state of control that says if you play by the rules, you will be rewarded and if you fail to play by the rules, you will be punished. But these rules are created by humans and their own limited perceptions of what ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ is. There is no true Justice to be found within these restrictions. True Justice is when we are given the chance to observe the cause and effect of our actions and to personally take full responsibility to learn and grow from our experiences and from there to have a chance to change our choices in such a way that reflects what we have learned and how we have grown. Punishment and reward do not leave much room for this type of learning and growth. In fact, it is often why we get stuck in karmic loops because we fail to learn the lesson and keep repeating the same choices again and again.

When we are seeking Justice, we are ultimately seeking Truth. Truth is both objective and fluid. It is not black and white, and it involves much more than our limited perceptions are capable of seeing. When we speak of cause and effect, this encompasses more than just ourselves because we are operating not only within our own choices but also within all the choices and energies around us. Add to this as well the collective karma that has been passed down to us from the very beginning of time and we can see that cause in effect is so much more then we are truly capable of understanding from our very narrow point of view.

When Justice comes up it is asking us to objectively view Truth beyond our own limited self-perception. To seek a Truth beyond just our own. Think about viewing the characters in a play. If you can only view things from the perspective of one character, you only see that part of the story. However, if you view things from the perspective of the audience, you can see all points of views of all characters and see the interaction of many truths that go beyond just one point of view. You see a story that brings together what was, what is and what will be, not only for one person, but for all people. This is what Justice seeks to do. To see Truth in this all-encompassing way and to find balance and fairness for all involved, not just the individual.

Another facet of Justice when it comes up for us in a reading is that it is asking us to take responsibility to live as an example of our truth. It reminds us that we are responsible for choosing to live with integrity and honestly by living as an authentic example of our truth. It not about proving our truth to the world and seeking validation for it. It's about embodying our truth fully in our heart, mind and soul for this truth to truly have consequence in the world around us. This is what integrity is all about. Living and breathing our truth in every moment of everyday. Being an example both inside and out of our truth and upholding it even in moments when it would be easier not to or we are being pressured to go against our truth. It's not about following what others teach us or tell us to do, but about living as an honest and integral example of our own truth by making choices that are aligned with this truth every single day regardless of how we may be judged or criticized by others.

We are also reminded through Justice that it is possible for more than one truth to exist, so while we live in accordance with our own truth, we must also respect others the choice to live within their own truth. We have not been sent here to judge the truth of others. We all have our own lives to live, our own karmas to face, and our own dharmas to create. Entangling ourselves in the karma of others through our judgements and criticisms serves no one. Justices reminds us that the scales will always find balance and justice will be served, so let go of the need to control someone else’s fate and concentrate on your own. The truth will always prevail, though it is a truth much larger than our own perception.
