The Hanged Man represents a time in our life when we need to observe a different perspective. It is a time to suspend ourselves to wait and listen for the answers we seek. It is a time where we must let go of everything we think we know and allow ourselves to listen for the wisdom that seeks to be known but can only be heard in a moment of pause and silence.
The Hanged Man is the suspension of our ego. This is a moment were we admit to ourselves that we do not actually know everything we need to know and we are encouraged to willingly surrendering our power and to step away from our force and intent in order to observe, listen and learn. It takes a great deal of power to allow ourselves this surrender, but the Hanged Man comes up to say it is essential for us in this moment if we truly want to receive the wisdom that we seek and to make changes we need to make.
When we think we know everything, we do not seek anything more. We do not allow new levels of enlightenment or growth because we are convinced that we are already there. When the Hanged Man comes up it is because it is asking us to observe how this has allowed a period of stagnation in our life. Rather than trying to solve it through what we know, the Hanged Man offers a chance to pause in order for us to shift our perspective, gain new insight and wisdom and observe how we have created this stagnation in our life and that the solution we seek lies in learning and applying something new in order to move forward.
When we are asked to make great changes in our lives, our focus is generally on the outside world. We look to change our job, our relationships, our living environments etc., thinking that in making changes on the outside, we will render the results we are looking for. The Hanged Man asks us to wait, stop and observe before we make these changes and to see that true transformation comes from within and it is only in a change in our behavior and consciousness that will result in the kind of transformation that we seek. In order for us to change in such a way that we do not remain stuck within our limitations, and instead free ourselves from the beliefs, thoughts, emotions and habits that have created the stagnation of energy in the first place.
This all begins first with us admitting that we need to change and that we need to observe how our behaviors and beliefs have created the problems we now face. This requires a deep level of honesty and humility for us to admit such things. The Hanged Man says that beyond our ego we will find a part of ourselves that exists outside these limitations. We simply need the time and space to allow ourselves this surrender to observe and find this lost part of ourselves. It is there, waiting for us, but it cannot be forced to surface, it can only rise into being when we have removed all the barriers that have blocked it.
On a more expanded level, the Hanged Man speaks to us of Christ Consciousness. This is the consciousness we wish to seek and resurrect within us. The lost part of ourselves. Christ Consciousness is not a religious belief, it is the consciousness of Love and Oneness that exists within each of us. It is the living God within that is not defined by any rules or parameters other than Love, Acceptance, and Unity. It is our truest state of being. The Hanged Man represents a time in our life where we are gifted a chance to return to this perception of life and remove all the barriers of hate, suffering and separateness that block this energy within us.
The Hanged Man knows that hate, separateness, suffering and pain are all an illusion. Whatever we are suffering right now, is because we have created and believed this illusion. In order to break free of our current sufferings, we must be willing to see that we are the ones that creating it all and we must be willing to change the beliefs, truths, behaviors, and habits that keep us stuck in this suffering. We have only to shift our perception of reality and choose to see the love, beauty, kindness and wonder that is the truth of this world in order to truly change our experience of reality.
Our experiences are dictated by the parameters of our conscious awareness and our imagination. We can imagine any existence into being and can participate in any reality of our choosing. And so, the Hanged Man challenges us to completely flip the script and change our tragedies into comedies. Our failures into victories, Our hate into love. Not through trying to change the circumstances, but rather changing how we narrative the story and therefore how we experience our version of reality.
