The 2 of Swords often indicates that we have come to a crossroad and a decision needs to be made. After we have received the clarity of a new truth in the Ace, the 2 now asks us to decide if we will in fact follow this new path of truth or choose to walk the road of the truth that we already know. There is no right or wrong to this decision, however, we do want to recognize the significance of this moment of how making this decision will impact our lives.

When a new truth is introduced, it often comes at the expense of the old. This may take time for us to fully integrate and accept. While the 2 of Swords does show us that we must choose between these 2 truths, it also encourages us to take time to first feel into this before making a decision to move forward.

The 2 of Swords is often associated with the word peace. This is because as we sit here at this crossroad and prepare to make a decision, we are being asked to first come to a place of peace with what we decide. It's not enough to just choose, we must choose knowing that we truly do want to commit to one path and are at peace with not choosing the other. This may take time for us to get to this space, but we are encouraged to make peace now as we decide so that later down the road we don’t look back with regret or doubt.

The energy surrounding the 2 of Swords suggests that tapping into our intuition at this point and following the guidance of our heart would serve us more than trying to make this decision through logic alone. Although the swords tend to relate specifically to the mind, the 2 of Sword is often depicted with symbols such as water, the moon and a feminine character that all point to the intuition having an important impact on the energy around us. This is also why we are asked to reflect before choosing the path ahead. We need time here to listen to the voice of our heart so we can feel which choice would best support us in this moment.

Overall, we want to consider that there is no right or wrong to our choice. There is simply a different cause and effect to each choice. However, the 2 of Swords does indicate that a choice must be made. We cannot remain in a state of indecision forever, and so although we are encouraged to take our time to decide and to consider things carefully, we are also reminded that at some point, regardless of if we feel ready or not, a choice either way must be made.

An important aspect to consider is that the 2 of Swords reminds us that as long as we are indecisive, so too is the energy that surrounds us. Only when we make a decision can the energy move and unfold. Why we need to understand this is because often when we are at the stage of deciding, we are trying to predict what will happen through making one decision or the other. However, until an energy is in motion it is impossible to know what will unfold. This might seem intimidating when trying to make what we believe to be the ‘right’ decision, and yet, this is only to say that neither effect of the energy yet exists without first putting the cause in motion. Nothing is yet real until we begin down a path and only in deciding the path can we then see what is in front of us.
