7 of Swords - Tarot

The 7 of Swords is an energy of doubt and futility. There is a struggle present here as we look back on where we were and wonder if things would be better if we were to go back instead of moving forward. However, the 7 of Swords is here to show us that going back at this point is futile and the only way now is forward.

The 7 of Swords represents a point in our journey when we have come so far that it is impossible to go back. We have integrated a truth to such a degree that despite the fears and doubts that may come up to make us question otherwise, this truth is now too much a part of ourselves and going back to the old obsolete truth is just not possible.

We are being asked to observe here how our fears and doubts are coming up strong. Like a thief in the night, these fears and doubts come to rob us of our peace and come to sabotage the efforts and energy that we have cultivated. It is imperative at this point that we do not give energy to these fears and doubts knowing that they serve only to hurt and hinder us. It is also helpful to observe that these fears and doubts are often triggered by the projections of other people through their judgements, opinions and criticisms. We must be discerning of what we are internalizing and personalizing and to be clear of what energies are not our own.

Our fears and doubts are lies disguised as truth. They are tricky in the ways that they speak to us and convince us to believe the temptations of falling back into old thought patterns that we know do not serve us. When the 7 of Swords comes up, we can feel this temptation strongly, and it will require us to be diligent and disciplined to not give into these energies. Remember, it is often when we are close to a breakthrough that these fears and doubts become the strongest. The 7 of Swords says: stay true to your path, keep going and don’t look back.
